Tangerang Waste Bank Expands Use of Waste, Processing Used Clothes into Doormats
GARISBUMI.com – TANGERANG, GARISBUMI.com | Used clothing is one of the targets for utilizing waste in strengthening the waste bank movement in the western region of Tangerang City. Through training in processing used clothes into doormats, residents are equipped with skills to extend the useful life of materials while opening up economic opportunities for their families.
The training was part of a meeting of 100 environmental activists at the TBK Cimone Waste Bank, Karawaci District, Sunday (1/11/2026). Participants came from five sub-districts, namely Cibodas, Jatiuwung, Periuk, Karawaci and Tangerang.
Based on a statement from the Tangerang City Government published Monday (2/11/2026), the meeting combined quarterly work evaluations, fitness activities, MSME bazaars, as well as waste utilization training. This activity is also a form of support for the Climate Village Program or Proklim.
Extends the useful life of used clothes
Doormat making training offers a practical way to make use of unused clothes. Materials that previously had the potential to be thrown away are reprocessed into household goods.
However, the economic opportunities from this activity still need to be seen. The Tangerang City Government's statement does not yet contain the number of used clothes processed, the results of doormat production, manufacturing costs, or product marketing after training.
This information is needed to assess the extent to which the skills acquired by participants can lead to productive activities and reduce waste in a measurable manner.
