KLH/BPLH representatives together with stakeholders discussed waste management and reducing plastic pollution in a series of informal consultations on the global plastic agreement in Jakarta, 13–15 October 2026

From the industrial sector, Danone's Public Affairs and Sustainability Director, Karyanto Wibowo, expressed support for the global agreement negotiation process.

"We, as part of the industry in Indonesia, support global efforts to end plastic pollution. We believe that this Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) can be a very important momentum to encourage a more ambitious and effective global framework so that plastic pollution can be reduced with a circular economic approach," said Karyanto.

INC is an intergovernmental negotiating committee formed through the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) based on UNEA Resolution 5/14 in March 2022. This committee is tasked with developing a legally binding international instrument to address plastic pollution by covering its entire life cycle.

Through consultations in Jakarta, Indonesia is encouraging strengthening cooperation between countries as well as domestic policies to reduce plastic waste from sources and improve waste management.
