WEST KUTAI, GARISBUMI.com – Waste management is part of the learning at the UPT Non-formal Education Unit Learning Activities Studio (SPNF SKB) West Kutai. Through the waste bank unit which was launched on Thursday (15/10/2026), residents in the SKB area are invited to practice sorting waste and depositing it as members' savings.

Head of UPT SPNF SKB Meipi said that educational institutions have a role in building environmentally friendly habits. Learning needs to be followed by daily practice, including managing waste produced in educational and family environments.
"Environmental issues and waste accumulation are our shared responsibility. Through the formation of this Waste Bank Unit, we hope that SPNF will not only become a place to learn theory, but also become a place for real practice in turning waste into goods of economic value and use," he said.
According to Meipi, the waste bank unit is expected to be a means of education so that SKB residents and surrounding communities are wiser in sorting and utilizing waste that still has use value.
In the socialization session, Environmental Counselor Oktavia explained waste sorting from the source. The material includes an introduction to organic, inorganic waste, as well as waste containing hazardous and toxic materials (B3).
