Bappenas: Green Transformation Must Become Real Action, 5.3 Million Workers Needed by 2029
Indonesia and Germany Strengthen Green Jobs
IGJC 2026 was organized by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through a collaborative project between Indonesia and Germany entitled Green Jobs for Social Inclusion and Sustainable Transformation (GESIT).
This partnership is a form of concrete support for the development of a green jobs ecosystem in Indonesia.
GESIT collaboration includes knowledge and expertise exchange, technical capacity building, and development and testing of solutions to support sustainable transformation.
The programs implemented include supporting the preparation of strategic policy frameworks, development of skills improvement training modules, implementation of trials at the regional level, and strengthening stakeholder capacity.
Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Indonesia Oliver Sperling said that the success of green transformation is ultimately determined by the quality of people.
“Investment and green technology require a workforce with the right skills. Investment in green skills is therefore key to economic competitiveness and the creation of future job opportunities," he said. Sperling said.
