Sorting Waste in Kalianyar, Two RWs Reduce Waste to Bantargebang by up to 50 Percent
Limited land is an obstacle
Agus hopes that the relevant agencies will help facilitate the processing of land use permits for the West Flood Canal banks with the Ciliwung Cisadane River Regional Office. The land is proposed to be used as a waste terminal.
The existence of processing facilities, according to him, is important so that the sorting movement does not stop at separating waste at home. Residents also need a place to process the waste that has been collected.
"The Kalianyar sub-district is a densely populated area that does not have land for waste processing. Hopefully this will be of concern to the relevant agencies because we are helping the process of reducing waste in Jakarta," he said.
Head of the Economic and Development Section of Kalianyar Village, Solihul Amri, said that the area has an area of around 38 hectares with a population of around 38 thousand people. The area consists of nine RWs and 101 RTs.
Solihul explained that waste sorting had been carried out in other RWs. However, the reduction in waste is most visible in RW 03 and RW 04 because both have waste terminal facilities.
"Other RWs have also sorted waste. However, currently the maximum is in these two RWs because they have waste terminal facilities," said Solihul.
The experience of the two RWs shows the importance of processing facilities to support the habit of sorting waste. In the midst of Kalianyar's limited land, facility support and assistance is needed so that waste reduction can be expanded to other environments.
