Indonesia Aims for Green Investment at COP31 through the Carbon Market
JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Indonesia will make strengthening carbon markets and green investment opportunities the main agenda for the 31st UN Climate Change Conference or COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye. The government targets international cooperation and financing to support environmental protection, food security and economic growth.
The Coordinating Minister for Food presented this agenda at the Limited Ministerial Coordination Meeting Preparing the Republic of Indonesia Delegation for COP31 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (12/10/2026).
"Indonesia wants to build a carbon market that is credible, transparent and trusted by the world. This policy is expected to be an engine for green growth as well as an entry point for international financing to support climate action and national development," said the Coordinating Minister for Food.
According to him, the carbon market can expand sources of financing for climate change mitigation and adaptation while opening up investment opportunities in various sectors.
This support is needed because the impacts of climate change are increasingly related to food production and people's livelihoods. Drought, disruption of agricultural production, and forest and land fires also affect food security and economic activity.
"We must translate our climate commitments into real actions that have a broad impact on people's welfare. We want to maintain Indonesia's global climate commitments, preserve the environment, strengthen food security, while maintaining national economic growth targets," he stressed.
