Kementerian Kehutanan menggelar lokakarya penguatan kapasitas pasar karbon berbasis Nature-based Solutions di Surabaya, 4 September 2026.

According to Edo, competent professional staff are needed to maintain the quality and integrity of Indonesia's carbon units. This competency is also needed so that the economic benefits of carbon trading can be felt by the community and support sustainable forest management.

Carbon Market Opens Green Job Opportunities

The development of carbon markets opens up the need for new competencies in the forestry sector. Professional staff must be able to understand carbon data management, measurement and verification processes, social and environmental protection, project integrity, and benefit sharing mechanisms.

The workshop activities were also complemented by a field visit to the mangrove forest park area managed by the East Java Provincial Government.

Through this activity, participants are expected to not only understand regulations and the concept of carbon trading. They are also encouraged to see carbon markets as part of the economic and employment transformation of the forestry sector.

The Ministry of Forestry hopes that strengthening capacity can produce professional staff who are able to maintain the credibility of Indonesia's carbon unit. With competent human resources, carbon trading is expected to produce responsible emission reductions while providing real benefits for society and forest sustainability. (ed)
