Depok Builds RDF Plant with 1,000 Ton Capacity, Reduces Burden on Cipayung Landfill
Sorting from Home is Still Needed
The construction of RDF facilities does not eliminate the obligation of the government and society to reduce waste from upstream. Sorting from households is still necessary so that the volume of waste that must be processed by facilities and deposited in landfills can be reduced.
When inspecting the Cipayung landfill in August 2026, Deputy Minister of the Environment Diaz Hendropriyono emphasized that waste sorting from the residential level is the foundation for sustainable waste management.
Therefore, the operation of the RDF Plant needs to run simultaneously with waste reduction, sorting, composting, strengthening waste banks, and recycling activities.
“RDF Plant is here to provide integrated waste management solutions for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable city,” Reni said.
The Depok City Government has not explained the schedule for construction and operation of facilities, investment value, RDF production capacity, industries that will absorb the results, as well as the scheme for dividing responsibilities between the regional government and PT Bintang Sakera Abadi.
