Head of the Depok City Environment and Hygiene Service, Reni Siti Nuraeni, said the RDF Plant was designed to change waste management patterns in Cipayung.

Waste that has ended up as landfill will go through a number of stages of sorting and processing before being converted into alternative fuel or returned to the recycling chain.

“Through the RDF Plant, waste entering the Cipayung landfill will be processed through several stages to reduce accumulation while producing material that can be reused,” said Reni, Tuesday, September 8 2026.

Use Mechanical Systems and Artificial Intelligence

The waste processing facility is planned to use a mechanical system supported by artificial intelligence technology. This technology will help the process of sorting various types of materials entering the facility.

The process begins when the waste is put into a reception facility. The waste then passes through a water extruder machine to reduce the water content.

“At this stage, the water extruder squeezes the waste to reduce the water content,” Reni explained.

Reducing the water content is necessary so that the sorting and processing process at the next stage runs more effectively.
