DEPOK, GARISBUMI.com – The Depok City Government will build a waste processing facility into Refuse Derived Fuel or RDF with a capacity of 1,000 tons per day in the Cipayung Final Processing Site area.

With this capacity, the RDF Plant is projected to be able to process around 77 percent of Depok City's waste generation, which is currently estimated at 1,300 tons per day.

The Depok City Government collaborated with PT Bintang Sakera Abadi to build and operate the facility. Cooperation officially began after both parties signed an agreement on Wednesday, September 2 2026.

RDF is an alternative fuel produced from waste processing which has calorific value. This product can be used by industry as a partial substitute for conventional fuel.

The construction of the RDF Plant is one of the Depok City Government's efforts to reduce dependence on the landfill system while reducing the burden on the Cipayung landfill, whose capacity is increasingly limited.

As much as 73 percent of waste enters the Cipayung landfill

Depok City Government planning documents record that waste generation in 2023 will reach around 1,265.79 tons per day. Of this amount, around 925 tons or 73.08 percent is transported to Cipayung TPA every day.

The large volume of waste that ends up in the landfill causes Depok's waste management problems not only related to waste production, but also limited land and capacity for final processing sites.
