To prevent blocked drains when it rains, Grobogan transports rubbish in Avur Kuripan
GROBOGAN, GARISBUMI.com – Garbage that clogs water channels was the target of a clean-up action in the Avur Kuripan Channel or Nglejok Drainage, Grobogan Regency, Friday (23/10/2026). This step is taken to help maintain the smooth flow of water and reduce the risk of puddles or flooding when it rains.
The Grobogan Regency Environmental Service (DLH) deployed cleaning staff and a truck to transport the waste from the cleaning to the final processing site (TPA). Activities involve local government officials, TNI, Polri, volunteers and the community in the context of Disaster Risk Reduction Month (PRB) 2026.
Cleaning targets materials that impede flow. Accumulation of rubbish and sedimentation can reduce channel capacity and increase the risk of water overflowing during high rainfall.
Therefore, handling is not only carried out on waste that has entered the drainage. At the same time, UPTD DLH for the Eastern Region is combing and transporting rubbish in a number of locations that are vulnerable to becoming illegal dumping sites.
This step is aimed at preventing waste from being carried away by rainwater runoff into rivers and residential drainage. Garbage that moves from land to waterways has the potential to add to blockages.
In its statement, DLH Grobogan Regency appealed to the public not to throw rubbish carelessly, especially into rivers and waterways. Citizen involvement is needed to ensure that channels that have been cleaned are not filled with rubbish again.
This action is part of efforts to anticipate hydrometeorological disasters. However, DLH's statement has not detailed the volume of waste transported, the length of the channel to be cleaned, or the next maintenance schedule.
