The Boom that Returns Across the Strait
GARISBUMI.com – Almost eight years after the 2018 tsunami, Anak Krakatau sent another roar to the mainland. The eruption lasted about 25 hours. Ash disrupted flights, but this time the community faced the mountain with stronger monitoring.
It was late at night when the monitoring equipment at Anak Krakatau began recording incessant vibrations.

From the crater in the middle of the Sunda Strait, volcanic material continues to come out. The lava glows like a red fountain at night. Black smoke could be seen rising when the sun appeared.
Then a bang was heard.
The roar from the mountains crossed the sea and reached the land. At the Pasauran Volcano Observation Post, officers heard it repeatedly. Vibrations were also felt in a number of areas far from the crater.
For the coastal communities of Banten and Lampung, the sound of Anak Krakatau has not been heard regularly since 2018.
