SYNKRON Developed to Verify Reports and Prepare for Forest and Land Fires
GARISBUMI.com – Forest and land fire control reports from permit holders need to be examined so that they can become the basis for monitoring and evaluating preparedness. This need is the focus of the development of the Online Forest and Forestry Control Reporting System or SINKRON by the Ministry of Forestry.
Through this development, it is hoped that incoming reports can be verified in a more systematic, measurable and accountable manner. The verification data is then expected to support guidance, compliance evaluation, and follow-up recommendations by authorized agencies.
The Directorate of Forest Fire Control held a trial of further development of SINKRON on 20 October 2026. This activity involved 30 participants from regional government agencies and technical units in the forestry and environmental sectors in South Sulawesi and the Sulawesi region.
Clarify audit reports
Director of Forest Fire Control, Thomas Nifinluri, said that SINKRON was developed in 2017 to support reporting on forest and land fire control by permit holders. This system needs to be refined as data and information management needs become increasingly complex.
According to Thomas, development includes improving reporting governance, clarifying the verification process, as well as preparing verification criteria and status. Alignment of regulations, workflows and information systems is also a concern.
"Trials are carried out to ensure that the development of SINKRON can run in accordance with user needs and work mechanisms in the field," said Thomas, as quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Forestry.
He emphasized that prevention, extinguishing and post-fire handling need to be supported by accurate reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
