Socialization of waste sorting from households in the Makasar Village Office Hall, East Jakarta, Wednesday (14/10/2026)

JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Makasar Subdistrict, East Jakarta, invites residents to sort waste from home to help reduce the volume of waste sent to the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST). RT and RW heads are expected to be the driving force for this habit in their respective environments.

This invitation was conveyed during the socialization of Governor's Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning the 100 Percent Acceleration of Waste Sorting in DKI Jakarta, in the III Floor Hall of the Makasar District Office, Wednesday (14/10/2026).

The activity, which was held together with the East Jakarta Environment Agency, was attended by RT, RW, Kelurahan Deliberative Institutions (LMK), and Dasawisma throughout Makasar Subdistrict.

Head of Makasar District, Dimas Prayudi, said that community involvement was the key to successful waste sorting. RT and RW administrators have an important role because they interact directly with residents.

"What we are asking for is cooperation between RT and RW to invite their residents to sort waste. The spirit must be the same, but the implementation does not have to be uniform. Each region can adapt to its own conditions and local wisdom," he said.

According to Dimas, the first step is to build awareness and trust among residents so that sorting takes place consistently from the time the waste is produced in the household.

He explained that waste needs to be separated based on type, namely organic, inorganic which can be recycled, residue, and hazardous and toxic waste (B3).
