Residents Complain of Smell, Bima City DLH Checks Alleged West Rabadompu SPPG Waste
BIMA CITY, GARISBUMI.com – The Bima City Environmental Service (DLH) is examining suspected water pollution in West Rabadompu Village after receiving public complaints regarding unpleasant odors. The smell is thought to come from wastewater discharge from the local Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).
Field verification was carried out by the Complaint Handling Team through the Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Division of Bima City DLH, Tuesday (13/10/2026).
Based on information from the Bima City DLH, the team examined conditions in the field and provided technical recommendations to deal with potential environmental disturbances from West Rabadompu SPPG wastewater management.
These recommendations include routine cleaning of the grease trap or grease trap. This step is necessary to prevent the buildup and hardening of fat and dirt which can cause odors.
DLH also asked managers to ensure that the Waste Water Treatment Plant (IPAL) is operated and maintained according to its function.
Several hours after verification, Bima City DLH received information that the SPPG management had followed up on the recommendation. Reported treatments include cleaning grease traps, flushing channels, and maintaining existing IPALs.
However, DLH's statement does not yet contain the results of water quality tests or conclusions regarding suspected pollution. The manager's follow-up also did not include information on whether the odor complaint had been resolved.
