National hotspot Increases 89 Percent, Fire in Central Kalimantan (Kalteng)'s Peatlands Hasn't Been Completely Extinguished
The high confidence level category also does not indicate the severity of the fire. For this reason, the Ministry of Forestry stated that indications from satellites still need to be checked through patrols and direct checks or ground checks.
With these limitations, zero high-confidence Hotspots at one monitoring time is not enough to conclude that the entire area is fire-free. Field reports are still needed to confirm the condition of the fire, smoke and remaining embers.
Weather Modifications Continue, Ground Operations Remain Needed
The government continues Weather Modification Operations (OMC) to support forest and land fire control. According to information from the Ministry of Forestry, the integrated OMC evaluation which took place since October 18 2026 recorded improvements in a number of indicators.
These indicators include improved visibility and PM2.5 pollutant concentrations, a reduction in Hotspots in operational evaluations, and rain that has begun to become more even in a number of areas, especially Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) and South Sumatra (Sumsel).
The Ministry of Forestry also reported that all airports that previously had visibility problems had returned to operation. However, the statement does not include comparative air quality figures or details of OMC's contribution to each reported improvement.
OMC will be continued by BNPB, Ministry of Forestry and related agencies according to field needs. The next operation is planned to be directed to Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku and South Papua.
