Indonesian Hotspots Reach 674 Points, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) and West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Become Focus of Forest and Forestry Control
Hotspots Don't Always Mean Fire
The Ministry of Forestry explained that Hotspots are an indication of earth surface temperature anomalies detected via satellite. The appearance of a hotspot does not always indicate an incident of forest or land fire.
One fire event can also be detected as multiple Hotspots. Therefore, every hot spot must be checked directly through groundcheck activities and monitoring actual conditions in the field.
Inspections are needed to confirm the location, land conditions, size of the affected area, and control measures that must be taken.
The public is asked to immediately report if they find hot spots, smoke, or indications of forest and land fires. Early reporting is needed so that officers can handle it before the fire spreads more widely.
Reports can be submitted to the Ministry of Forestry's Karhutla Command Post by telephone 021-5704618, WhatsApp 0813-1003-5000, or email posko.karhutla@kehutanan.go.id. (ed)
