Indonesian Hotspots Reach 674 Points, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) and West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Become Focus of Forest and Forestry Control
The following is the distribution of Hotspots in the six priority provinces:
- Central Kalimantan (Kalteng): 243 points
- West Kalimantan (Kalbar): 138 points
- South Sumatra (Sumsel): 61 points
- Jambi: 26 points
- South Kalimantan: 20 points
- Riau: seven points
The increase in Hotspots in Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) and West Kalimantan (Kalbar) is of concern to the government. Field operations in both areas have been strengthened to prevent fires from spreading.
Control measures include patrols, direct inspection of locations indicated as hot spots, extinguishing and controlling the spread of fire.
South Sumatra (Sumsel) hotspot Drops 49 Percent
In the midst of the increase in the number of Hotspots nationally, positive developments can be seen in South Sumatra (Sumsel). The number of Hotspots in the province fell by 59 points in a day.
South Sumatra (Sumsel) previously recorded 120 Hotspots. That number then fell to 61 points or reduced by around 49 percent on September 6 2026.
The decline in the number of Hotspots also occurred in Riau. However, monitoring and control operations are still being carried out to prevent the emergence of new Hotspots.
Control of forest and land fires in six priority provinces is carried out by the Manggala Agni Ministry of Forestry together with the TNI, Polri and other related elements.
