Gorontalo KKP and DKP Supervise the Use of Marine Space in Gorontalo Bay
GORONTALO, GARISBUMI.com – The activities of the community and business actors in the Gorontalo Bay Regional Marine Conservation Area (KKPD) are subject to joint supervision by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Gorontalo Province Maritime and Fisheries Service (DKP) on 9–10 October 2026.
Supervision is focused on compliance with the provisions for Conformity of Marine Space Utilization Activities (KKPRL). This step is taken to maintain the function of the conservation area while preventing use of marine space that is not appropriate for its intended use.
Head of the Gorontalo Province DKP, Aryanto Husain, emphasized that economic activities in conservation areas must proceed according to regulations so as not to disturb the marine ecosystem.
This supervision was carried out together with the Pontianak Marine Management Center, KKP. The team involved conservation area managers, marine and fisheries resource supervisors, the Gorontalo Regional Police's Ditpolairud, and the Indonesian Navy.
Fisheries Supervisors and Special Police for Management of Coastal Areas and Small Islands (Polsus WP3K) were also involved in this activity.
Apart from monitoring the suitability of marine space utilization, the team carries out supervision to prevent illegal and destructive fishing practices. This activity is directed at preserving marine resources which support the lives of coastal communities.
