Dumai Cleans Mud and Garbage in Jalan Belimbing Drainage to Anticipate Flooding

DUMAI, GARISBUMI.com – Mud deposits in drainage and piles of rubbish around residential areas were targeted for cleaning on Jalan Belimbing, Rimba Sekampung Village, Dumai Kota District, Friday (23/10/2026). This joint action with residents and government officials was carried out to maintain the cleanliness of the environment while anticipating flooding.

Since morning, the mutual cooperation participants have been cleaning water channels, cutting weeds, and carrying away rubbish that has piled up around roads and settlements. The Mayor of Dumai Paisal also led this activity.

In between cleaning, Paisal reminded the importance of keeping ditches and drainage clear of rubbish. He asked for the habit of caring for the environment to continue after the joint activities ended.

"The government cannot work alone without full support from the community. Let's look after the existing facilities together, don't throw rubbish carelessly into ditches or drainage," he said.

The invitation places cleanliness of waterways as an everyday responsibility. Garbage transported in mutual cooperation needs to be followed by the habit of disposing of rubbish in its place so that it does not pile up again in the drainage.

According to Paisal, this activity also opens up a space for direct meetings between the government and residents to discuss residential environmental needs.

"Apart from keeping the environment clean and anticipating floods, this moment is a place for us to greet residents directly, listen to their aspirations and maintain togetherness," he said.
