Dredging of the Mampang and Krukut Rivers Still Remains 157 Thousand Cubic Meters of Sediment
GARISBUMI.com – JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.COM | Dredging of the Mampang River and Krukut River still leaves around 157,419.7 cubic meters of sediment that needs to be removed to facilitate water flow ahead of the rainy season. This work is aimed at reducing the risk of flooding in a number of areas of South Jakarta, including Pondok Karya, Pondok Jaya, North Kemang IX, and West Pejaten.
Based on figures in the Jakarta Communications and Information Agency, around 12,900.3 cubic meters of sediment have been removed from the two rivers. This amount is equivalent to around 7.6 percent of the total volume of dredging work mentioned, namely 170,320 cubic meters.
This percentage is a calculation of sediment volume, not a measure of the progress of all flood control work or the extent of flood risk reduction.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspects work on the Mampang River, Poncol Segment, West Kuningan, South Jakarta, Thursday (29/10/2026). He said that river improvements were carried out together with the construction of embungs and improvements to the confluence of the Mampang River with the Krukut River.
"I'm sure there will still be floods in the future, but the volume will decrease significantly because they are now being handled seriously," said Pramono, as quoted by the Jakarta Communication and Information Service.
The largest remaining dredging is in the Krukut River
In the Mampang River, around 4,393 cubic meters of sediment has been removed, with 14,727 cubic meters remaining for work. Meanwhile in Krukut River, around 8,507.3 cubic meters have been removed and 142,692.7 cubic meters still remain.
