Central Java Collects 31 Thousand Liters of Waste Cooking, Prepares to Deposit Used Oil via Biodrop ATM
SEMARANG, GARISBUMI.com โ A total of 31,032.44 liters of used cooking oil were collected through a movement involving state civil servants (ASN) and employees of regionally owned enterprises (BUMD) in Central Java. To expand collection to the community, a biodrop ATM machine was set up which allows residents to deposit used oil and receive money through an account.
The movement involving 60,680 employees links household waste management with economic incentives. However, the Central Java Provincial Government's statement has not detailed the location of the machine, service schedule, or payment value for used cooking oil deposited.
Head of the Central Java Posyandu Development Team, Nawal Arafah Yasin, said that collecting waste cooking involves 35 districts/cities. Program expansion is carried out through collaboration with various parties, including the business world.
Through this collaboration, the biodrop ATM service is expected to make it easier for residents to hand over used cooking oil while also gaining economic benefits from household waste.
Collecting used cooking oil is associated with health
Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen said the collection of used cooking oil was also directed at encouraging people to abandon the habit of consuming oil that has been used repeatedly.
"This used cooking oil collection program does not only talk about the environment or waste, but also health. How can our people not consume oil that has been used many times, so that (people become) healthier," he said, as quoted in a statement from the Public Relations of the Central Java Provincial Government.
