Bekasi improves Kertamukti TPST to reduce waste going to landfill
CIKARANG, GARISBUMI.com – The Bekasi Regency Government is preparing to rehabilitate and optimize the Kertamukti Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) to strengthen waste processing and reduce the volume entering the final processing site (TPA).
These improvements include the readiness of managers, workforce, financing and equipment maintenance. These aspects are of concern so that facilities can operate sustainably.
The optimization plan was discussed with the World Bank and the Ministry of Public Works (PU) at the Bekasi Regency Government Complex, Central Cikarang, Wednesday (21/10/2026), in the evaluation of the Indonesia Solid Waste Management Project (ISWMP) program.
"The Bekasi Regency Government is committed to supporting the optimization of the Kertamukti TPST so that it can operate safely, effectively and sustainably," said Plt. Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja.
According to Asep, the availability of infrastructure needs to be supported by good institutions and governance. Without the readiness of human resources, operational costs and maintenance, it is difficult for waste processing facilities to function optimally.
He asked relevant regional officials to identify obstacles to implementing the ISWMP program and determine follow-up actions with clear completion targets.
"Strengthen coordination with the central government and accompanying teams, and ensure that every problem is followed up concretely with clear resolution targets," he stressed.
