After the Garbage Truck Leaves
What you hear most often: expensive.
It's expensive indeed. However, letting waste pile up is also not free. There is groundwater at risk of being polluted, people's health at stake, and new land that must be sought when landfills are full.
We are often good at calculating the price of a machine, but forget to calculate the cost of not having one.
The government holds a big responsibility. People cannot continue to be asked to sort their waste if it ends up being mixed back together on the same truck.
That's like asking people to arrange their clothes by color, then the laundry guy comes in with a sack for everything.
The residents finally gave up. Not because he doesn't care, but because he feels his efforts are going nowhere. Don't let the sorting just be neat on the poster.
However, we also cannot leave all problems to the government. Many items end up in the trash not because they are completely useless, but because we buy too much, use too little, then throw away too quickly.
Manufacturers cannot only be present when the goods are still on store shelves. After the product is sold, the packaging does not suddenly become an orphan that must be looked after by the local government.
