TANGERANG CITY, GARISBUMI.com – The Tangerang City Government will encourage waste management, improved sanitation, and water and energy conservation in schools through the Ecological Repentance Movement. This movement was prepared as an introduction for educational units towards Adiwiyata School, especially schools that have not been touched by this program.

Head of the Tangerang City Environmental Service (DLH), Yudi Pradana, said that support for the central government's movement was directed at building habits of caring for the environment from an early age. Implementation will also include improving school facilities and infrastructure that supports environmental conservation.

"Yesterday, we participated directly in the launch of the Ecological Repentance Movement which was launched as a caring movement from an early age," said Yudi, Tuesday (13/10/2026).

According to Yudi, the Tangerang City Government will strengthen collaboration with education units to follow up on this movement. Waste management, sanitation, water and energy conservation, as well as the habit of environmentally friendly behavior are the focus of action in schools.

"We will encourage collaboration to strengthen programs for forming habits of love for the environment, as well as improving school facilities and infrastructure that are in line with the vision of sustainable environmental conservation," he said.

Preparing Schools for Adiwiyata

The implementation of the Ecological Repentance Movement will be formulated in stages. The stages start from awareness, reflection, commitment, change, action, to habituation so that concern for the environment becomes rooted in culture.

Yudi explained that this movement is expected to help schools build readiness before entering the Adiwiyata School category. The aim is also to encourage students to take the habit of protecting the environment outside the classroom.
