Surabaya Involves Students to Clean Kenjeran Beach, Expands Environmental Education

GARISBUMI.com – SURABAYA, GARISBUMI.COM | The Surabaya City Government involved elementary and middle school students, college students, and Great Surabaya Cadres in cleaning the Kenjeran Beach area and planting trees, Thursday (29/10/2026). Student involvement is also directed at expanding environmental education through projects and activities in their respective regions.

The action in the Taman Suroboyo area, Kenjeran, was part of the Indonesia ASRI Movement, which stands for Safe, Healthy, Clean and Beautiful. The Surabaya City Government said that cleaning and environmental planning activities are carried out routinely every Tuesday and Friday.

Surabaya City Regional Secretary General Administration Assistant Anna Fajriatin, who represents the Mayor Eri Cahyadi, said that the involvement of the younger generation is an important part in maintaining the sustainability of the program.

According to Anna, students who join as Environmental Princes from elementary and middle school levels are required to have environmental projects and continue their education in their respective regions.

This involvement opens up space for students to bring experiences from joint activities into everyday environments. However, the Surabaya City Government's statement has not detailed the form of the project, scope of implementation, or how to evaluate students' educational results.

Regular community service every Tuesday and Friday

Anna said cleaning activities cover the office area and the surrounding environment. Its implementation involves city government officials and the community.
