Pasir Bajing Landfill Reopens, Garut Deputy Regent Encourages Waste Management from Upstream
"It could be a house, a household, it could be an office, it could be a school, an agency, a company, which means that the trash can was produced for the first time," he said.
Therefore, he invited state civil servants (ASN) and the community to take a role in waste management in their respective environments. Handling waste is not enough to just rely on transportation to the landfill.
Garbage Piling Disrupts City Comfort and Planning
Putri recalled the experience of piling up rubbish for around five to six days due to disturbances at the Pasir Bajing TPA. According to him, this condition disturbs the comfort of the community and the cleanliness of the city layout.
He is also worried about the impact on tourist attractions if the waste problem is not handled in a sustainable manner.
"I can't imagine what will happen when the Pasir Bajing landfill is completely no longer functional and where will the waste be used," said Putri.
In the future, the Garut Regency Government will strengthen waste management regulations by emphasizing the division of responsibilities between government and individuals.
"So, when the time comes for regulations related to waste to be strengthened, it must be restored that a large part of waste is the responsibility of each individual," he said.
