The Director General of Sustainable Forest Management at the Ministry of Forestry, Laksmi Wijayanti, gave a statement to journalists during the First ASGANISPH National Conference in Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, Wednesday (14/10/2026)

SLEMAN, GARISBUMI.com – Forest management technical personnel now have a national platform to strengthen competence, uphold professional ethics and fight for welfare. The National Association of Forest Management Technical Personnel (ASGANISPH) is expected to be a driving force for improving the quality of forest management in the field.

The Director General of Sustainable Forest Management (PHL) of the Ministry of Forestry, Laksmi Wijayanti, confirmed the chairman and National Management Board (DPN) of ASGANISPH for the 2026–2031 period in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region, Wednesday (14/10/2026).

The association's first national meeting (Munas) elected Didi Kuntoro as chairman. Didi is a state civil servant at the Central Java Province Environment and Forestry Service who has the qualification of Forest Management Technical Personnel (GANISPH) for Log Testing.

Laksmi said that the Directorate General of PHL initiated the formation of the association because the quality of forest management really depends on the competence and integrity of its technical personnel.

"So far, GANISPH has worked spread across thousands of management units, often alone, without a common platform to fight for the quality of the profession. Today that void has been filled. This First National Conference is the starting point, not the finish line," said Laksmi.

According to him, technical personnel play an important role in all stages of forest management. His duties include planning, inventory, forest development, forest product administration, and forest protection.

Therefore, the formation of an association needs to be followed by concrete steps to improve the professionalism of members, including implementing the code of ethics that has been established in the National Conference.
