Ministry of Forestry Strengthens Fire Care Communities, Targets 500 Groups by 2026
"The group that is formed must have the ability to recognize dangers and act according to procedures. Therefore, institutional strengthening needs to be accompanied by training, equipment, communication and safety support," said Rohmat.
Involve Forest Farmer Groups and Indigenous Communities
Prevention of forest and land fires is also strengthened through a network of Forest Farmer Groups and recipients of social forestry access.
Until September 2026, the social forestry program has reached 1,437,065 heads of families in an area of 8.46 million hectares. The beneficiaries from the establishment of 177 customary forests covering an area of 376,280 hectares were recorded as 93,859 heads of families.
The Ministry of Forestry links forest management assistance with fire prevention. Certainty of management access and economic benefits of forests is expected to strengthen citizen involvement in protecting their territory.
Through community-based fire control, the network is encouraged to increase supervision, prevent burning, and speed up reporting to officers.
"Maintained forests support family livelihoods. Therefore, we link social forestry assistance with fire prevention efforts so that plants, forest products and community businesses are protected from the threat of fire," said Rohmat.
