KLH/Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) Invites Campus Graduates to Explore the Carbon Economy and Green Jobs
GARISBUMI.com – MEDAN, GARISBUMI.COM | The Ministry of the Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/Environmental Management Agency (BPLH)) invites university graduates to study carbon trading and environmental expertise. The development of this sector is expected to link ecosystem restoration with job opportunities and economic benefits for the community.
This invitation was conveyed by the Minister of the Environment/Head of Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) Moh Jumhur Hidayat in a scientific oration at the graduation of the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) undergraduate and postgraduate programs Period I 2026 in Medan, Tuesday (27/10/2026).
"Later on, technically, undergraduate and graduate graduates will have to learn more about carbon trading," said Jumhur, as quoted from the KLH/Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) statement.
According to Jumhur, climate change has disrupted economic and agricultural activities. Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while restoring the environment are considered to open up the need for skills that campus graduates can learn.
The economic potential still needs to be explained
In his presentation, Jumhur highlighted the potential of Indonesia's forests and mangroves in developing a carbon economy. He used an image of an area in Deli Serdang that could connect with international buyers to explain the opportunity.
The description is a hypothetical example, not a transaction announcement. The KLH/Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) statement does not include specific projects, purchase contracts, or the value of income received by the community.
