Central Jakarta's waste to Bantargebang drops by 216 tons per day, Arifin asks for factual data
CENTRAL JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – The average waste from Central Jakarta that is disposed of in Bantargebang fell from 886 tons per day in January to 670 tons per day in September 2026. In the midst of this decline, the Mayor of Central Jakarta Administration, Arifin, asked that waste sorting and processing reports truly reflect conditions in the community.
This was conveyed in an evaluation of waste sorting and processing from sources held by the Central Jakarta Environment Agency (Sudin LH) at the Central Jakarta Mayor's Office, Gambir, Wednesday (7/10/2026). This activity was attended by sub-district heads, village heads and related officials.
Arifin emphasized that the implementation of waste management in each region must be proven in the field. He plans to review it directly to ensure conformity between the report and practice.
"I want to be concrete, in fact, reality, data on waste processing and sorting actually happening in the community. Later I will look at each region for myself," he said.
He asked village heads to directly monitor waste management, including waste bank activities in their respective areas. According to him, proper sorting will be seen from the increase in inorganic waste entering the waste bank.
"If all areas are sorted, more inorganic waste will enter the waste bank. If it's still the same, it means it's not working," he said.
Arifin also emphasized the importance of the role of village heads in encouraging the community to reduce waste from the source. Each region is asked to have a strategy involving various parties to handle organic and inorganic waste.
