Buleleng Bamboo Crafts, Gede Suarsa Earns Income of IDR 5 Million a Month
In a day, he is able to produce around 20 bamboo pens. The price for each pen starts at IDR 25 thousand, while other products are priced according to the design and level of difficulty of workmanship.
Orders are still dominated by local buyers who contact him via WhatsApp. However, these crafts are also starting to attract the attention of visitors from outside the area and foreign tourists who come to Sinabun Village.
Labor limitations hamper production
In the midst of market opportunities, Gede still faces limited workforce. This condition limits production capacity and makes it impossible for him to regularly participate in exhibitions.
"Our business still finds it difficult to find workers. So we rarely participate in exhibitions at the district level because our products are limited," he said.
However, Manasa Handycraft products have appeared several times at district and provincial level exhibitions. This activity is an opportunity to expand marketing and introduce crafts from Sinabun Village.
Gede hopes that his business can develop and open up job opportunities for residents. With a larger production capacity, he wants bamboo crafts to help drive the village economy.
