Barito Kuala Monitors Air and Barito River, Data Becomes Policy Basis
MARABAHAN, GARISBUMI.com – The Barito Kuala Regency Environmental Service (DLH) utilizes air and water monitoring devices to strengthen environmental quality monitoring. The resulting data is used as material for consideration by the government in responding to the haze and potential pollution of the Barito River.
Head of DLH Barito Kuala Regency, Abdi Maulana, explained that monitoring was carried out through the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (SPKUA) and the Online Water Quality Monitoring System (Onlimo).
"The air monitoring tool at the Barito Kuala Regency Environmental Service Office is called the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System or SPKUA," said Abdi, Wednesday (30/9/2026).
According to him, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH)'s device which is placed at the DLH Office can assess air quality within a radius of around 5-6 kilometers, especially in the Marabahan District area.
The monitoring results in the form of the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) are used as a basis for policy making. Among other things, consideration of implementing distance learning if air conditions require attention.
In monitoring smoke haze caused by forest and land fires or forest and land fires, PM10 and PM2.5 are the main parameters to pay attention to. Both are related to air polluting particulates.
SPKUA monitoring data can be accessed in real time via the Ministry of the Environment website and application.
