74 Yogyakarta Student Teams Campaign for Clean Environment through Murals
In the mountains, he shows a figure cleaning the Parangtritis Beach area while flying a kite. His work also includes gamelan playing activities as well as Hanoman figures cleaning Jalan Malioboro and the area in front of the office.
Through this image, Antonius wants to invite people to maintain cleanliness by using easily recognizable cultural elements.
Rivers of Code and Garbage in Student Work
A similar message is present in the Zulfa Konita mural from SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta. He depicts a person's face with thoughts containing various elements of the city, including the Yogyakarta Monument, the Code River, and the rubbish problem.
"We depicted a person's face by showing what was in his mind. We drew a monument, a river of code, then rubbish and some people trying to clean up the rubbish," said Zulfa.
The illustration is Zulfa's way of conveying her views about the city environment where she lives. The activity of cleaning up rubbish was also presented as part of a message of concern for cleanliness.
Budi hopes that the mural competition can raise students' attention to environmental cleanliness and health, as well as encourage them to develop their own abilities.
"The hope is that school children in the city of Yogyakarta will be clean, healthy. That is the most important thing. Have achievements," he said.
