The threat of forest and land fires is high, nine climbing areas are closed
Four areas with a moderate risk level are still open on a limited basis, namely Mount Rinjani National Park, Mount Merbabu National Park, Hyang Highlands Wildlife Reserve or Argopuro, and Mount Halimun Salak National Park.
Climbing in this area is carried out with stricter supervision and restrictions on zones considered safe.
In line with the closure, online ticket booking services for affected areas have been temporarily suspended. Climbers who have paid for tickets before September 1 will still receive services according to the provisions and technical adjustments on the ground.
Scheduled activities can still be carried out with full supervision and security from the joint team. One of them is the Merbabu Trail Run in Mount Merbabu National Park.
The Ministry of Forestry also ordered all heads of large centers, national park centers and natural resource conservation centers to strengthen patrols while the policy is in effect.
There is no definite date for the reopening of all routes. The status of the area will be evaluated based on weather, level of fire vulnerability, and readiness for control in the field.
