North Tugu Organic Waste Distributed to TPS 3R, Effort to Reduce the Burden on the TPA
JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Organic waste from Tugu Utara Subdistrict, North Jakarta, was distributed to the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS 3R) Waste Processing Site in North Rawabadak, Thursday (1/10/2026). This step was taken to support the processing of segregated waste while reducing the volume of waste sent to final disposal sites (TPA).
The activity, which started at 09.00 WIB, involved Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers from Tugu Utara Subdistrict and environmental officers from Koja District.
Based on information from Tugu Utara Subdistrict, separating organic waste from the source is an important part of the processing process. Segregated waste is easier to handle because it is not mixed with inorganic materials.
Distribution to TPS 3R is the next step after sorting. In this way, organic waste is directed to be processed, so it is hoped that it can reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
It is also hoped that the collaboration between PPSU officers and environmental officers will encourage residents to be more active in sorting waste. Home sorting helps with transportation and handling at processing facilities.
However, the statement from Tugu Utara Subdistrict did not specify the weight of the organic waste handed over, the processing method, or the capacity of the recipient TPS 3R. The magnitude of the reduction in waste going to landfill from this activity is not yet known.
