Grogol Processes Leftover Fruit and Vegetables into Eco Enzyme, Encourages Waste Sorting from Home
JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Leftover fruit and vegetables are being processed for household waste in Grogol Village, West Jakarta. Through the GROPILAH or Grogol Sort Waste from Home program, PKK cadres from RW 001 to RW 010 follow the practice of making eco enzyme and produce 18 gallons.
The activity, which took place in the courtyard of the Grogol Village Office, Grogol Petamburan District, was directed at encouraging residents to sort and utilize organic waste from their homes.
"Grogol Village PKK cadres succeeded in making 18 gallons of eco enzyme," said Grogol Village Head, Ady Saputro, in a statement from the West Jakarta City Government received on Saturday (7/11/2026).
According to Ady, processing fruit and vegetable waste is an effort to provide useful value to household organic waste while reducing the volume of waste disposed of at the final processing site (TPA).
From processing practices to household habits
The problem that the GROPILAH program aims to answer is at the household level: how do residents start separating waste and processing the part that can still be used.
The involvement of PKK cadres from ten RWs is part of the sub-district's efforts to encourage citizen participation. Ady hopes that this practice can be followed by the habit of sorting and processing waste at home.
