Compact Coffee from the Lebak Traditional Forest, Target Platinum Class
Assessing Business and Forest Sustainability
In Bandung Regency, verification was carried out on KUPS Ciampig which is under the Sasaka Patengan Forest Farmers Group (KTH), Patengan Village, Rancabali District. Through the Community Forestry (HKm) scheme, this group develops tourism and agroforestry businesses based on the potential of forest areas.
KUPS KOMPAK and KUPS Ciampig currently still have Gold status. Verification is the stage of assessing the readiness of both groups to move up to Platinum class.
The assessment covers five aspects, namely institutional, business and economic, human resources, social and environmental impacts, as well as partnerships and business networks.
The process includes administrative checks, interviews with management and members, as well as direct inspection of business conditions. Data and documents are compared with conditions on the ground to assess governance, member capacity, market access, and implementation of environmental sustainability principles.
The results of the verification will be used as evaluation material to determine the need for strengthening and follow-up business development for each group.
The Ministry of Forestry emphasized that increasing the KUPS class must also reflect the benefits of social forestry for the community. The measures include increasing income, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening the local economy, while preserving forests as a source of livelihood for future generations.
