Bawean Rocks and Landscapes Researched, Mapped Objects of Protective Value
GRESIK, GARISBUMI.com – The rocks and natural landscape of Bawean Island, Gresik Regency, East Java, were studied to map geological objects that have protective value. The investigation covered a number of locations, including Lake Kastoba within the Bawean Island Nature Reserve.
The Center for Ground Water and Environmental Management Geology Team, Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has carried out investigations into the Bawean Geological Reserve Area (KCAG) since October 8 2026.
This activity aims to obtain field data, inventory, and delineate or map the boundaries of geological objects that have protection value.
Based on information from the Gresik Region II KSDA Division, the search on Saturday (17/10/2026) was carried out on a stretch that represents the geological characteristics around the Teneden Block to Lake Kastoba.
At locations that intersect with conservation areas, activities are accompanied by officers and partners from the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA).
This does not yet mean the designation of a Geological Nature Reserve Area
This investigation is a data collection stage to identify the character and protection value of Bawean geological objects. The locations visited have not been automatically designated as Geological Nature Reserve Areas.
Search result data becomes material for identifying objects that have protection value as well as determining their boundaries.
