170 Sacks of Mud Lifted from Grogol Channel, Anticipating Puddles When It Rains
JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – A total of 170 sacks of mud were lifted from a 375 meter long micro channel on Jalan Rawa Bahagia VII, RT 008/RW 002, Grogol Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta. Cleaning is aimed at overcoming silting which reduces the channel's capacity to carry water.
Through the Grebek Lumpur activity, as many as 18 Grogol Village Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers drained and removed sediment from the 0.4 meter wide channel. This step is taken to anticipate inundation and potential flooding, especially when entering the rainy season.
Returns the channel capacity
Head of the Economic and Development Section of Grogol Village, Ibnu Rahmad Hidayat, explained that removing sedimentation aims to restore the channel's normal depth and capacity.
"Anticipate and minimize the risk of waterlogging and flooding, especially when entering the rainy season," he said, as quoted from a statement from Grogol Village.
Mud deposits are the focus of treatment because they cause the channel to become shallow. By removing this material, the subdistrict office hopes that the channel's capacity can be restored and the water flow will become smoother.
The figure 170 sacks shows the amount of material collected by officers. However, the sub-district information does not include the weight or volume of mud, so this amount cannot be converted into tonnage or cubic meters.
