SMPN 9 Sukabumi Initiates Waste Savings to Support School Cleanliness
SUKABUMI, GARISBUMI.com – Students of SMP Negeri 9 Sukabumi City will learn to sort waste while managing its economic value through the Slansi Anti-Waste Movement (GASS). The collected waste is planned to be used as savings to support school activities, including cleaning.
The program, which was launched on the occasion of Youth Pledge Day, Wednesday (28/10/2026), involves the Sukabumi Waste Bank or Sammi Bank. This collaboration links learning about waste sorting with mechanisms for depositing, weighing and recording the value of waste.
Based on information from the Sukabumi City Government, the collected waste will be deposited at Bank Sammi to be weighed and assessed. The savings are then used to support school activities.
Learn to sort and utilize waste
Head of SMP Negeri 9 Sukabumi City, Filah Saiful, hopes that GASS can raise students' awareness of protecting the environment. This habit is expected to continue when students are at home.
Through the waste savings mechanism, students are introduced to the relationship between sorting and utilizing waste which still has economic value. This program also opens up a learning space about how the results of waste collection can be used for common needs at school.
However, the Sukabumi City Government's statement has not detailed the type of waste that will be accepted, the deposit schedule, or the management of savings results. The number of participants and waste collection targets have not been stated.
