Kendari Receives IDR 107 Billion Waste Program, Strengthens Processing in Puuwatu
Development of Puuwatu Waste Processing Facilities
The LSDP program in Kendari is related to plans to develop waste processing facilities in the Puuwatu TPAS area. Preparations for implementation have received assistance from the Directorate General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs.
In August 2026, the Directorate General of Regional Development team together with the Kendari City Government discussed the requirements for implementing the program and reviewed the location of the planned facility construction.
Siska emphasized that the Kendari City Government will optimize the support it receives so that it has a real impact on waste services and the quality of the urban environment.
"We will ensure that this program can be utilized optimally for the needs of the people of Kendari City. The most important thing is how this program will really strengthen the waste service system from upstream to downstream," he said.
LSDP is a government project supported by the World Bank through a performance-based grants scheme. This program is designed to increase the capacity of local governments to provide waste management services.
Program support includes institutional strengthening, planning, financing, and provision of facilities and infrastructure. Transporting and processing waste is also part of improvements to reduce waste entering the final processing site.
