To prevent flooding in Tangsel, Pilar asks the sub-district head and village head to mobilize residents to clean the river
SOUTH TANGERANG, GARISBUMI.com – The construction of sheet piles to reduce the risk of flooding in South Tangerang needs to be accompanied by cleaning up rubbish and maintaining river flows. Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, asked the sub-district and village heads to mobilize residents to maintain the smooth flow of water, especially during the rainy season.
Pilar conveyed this when inspecting the sheet pile construction in Pondok Aren District, Thursday (8/10/2026). He highlighted that there was still a lot of rubbish carried by river flows in a number of sub-district areas.
According to Pilar, piles of rubbish have the potential to obstruct water flow and increase the risk of puddles when it rains. Therefore, repairs and elevation of sheet piles need to be supported by maintenance and river normalization.
"I hope that regional heads, village heads and sub-district heads can work together to mobilize their residents to clean rivers in their areas, so that during the rainy season the water flow is not blocked," said Pilar.

Pilar explained that building sheet piles is one of the government's steps to reduce the risk of flooding. Regular maintenance of water channels is necessary so that the infrastructure can function optimally.
He also emphasized the importance of normalizing rivers to maintain water flow capacity. Meanwhile, community involvement in maintaining environmental cleanliness is needed so that rubbish does not accumulate and clog channels.
Sub-district heads and village heads are asked to strengthen coordination with residents, including through community service to clean rivers and water channels in their respective environments.
