Cipadu River Dredged, Cirebon City Government Invites Residents to Prevent Garbage from Piling Up Again
CIREBON, GARISBUMI.com – Dredging of rubbish and sedimentation in the Cipadu River, Cirebon City, has reopened the water flow which was previously hampered by accumulation of material. The Cirebon City Government invites residents to maintain the results of this treatment by not throwing rubbish into the river.
Handling was carried out together with the Cimanuk Cisanggarung River Basin Center (BBWS), the Environmental Service (DLH), and the sub-district authorities using heavy equipment.
Based on information from the Cirebon City Communication, Informatics, Statistics and Cryptography Department, before the dredging, the Cipadu River experienced a buildup of rubbish and silting which hampered the flow of water. Once handled, the river flow is more open, the pile of rubbish is reduced, and sedimentation begins to be handled.
Cirebon Mayor Effendi Edo previously highlighted the shallowing condition of the river. He described the thickness of the sediment through the presence of heavy equipment used at the location.
"If we look, the excavator's load, which is quite heavy, doesn't sink. This indicates that the shallowing of the river is extraordinary," he said.
The Cirebon City Government emphasizes that dredging needs to be accompanied by ongoing maintenance. Without mutual concern, rubbish can pile up again and disrupt the function of rivers.
Therefore, the community, especially in the South Kesunean–Cangkol area, is invited to maintain the cleanliness of rivers and waterways around settlements.
