Church in Jambi Starts Waste Bank, Eight Parishes Prepare Ecological Action
"Maintaining the cleanliness of the city is not enough just to transport trash. We have to start reducing waste from the source, sorting it according to type, and reusing waste that still has use value," he said.
It is hoped that the waste bank will become an educational tool for families and the younger generation to build this habit.
Church Land Planned for Feed Corn
Apart from waste management, this activity promotes land use to support food production. Maulana said that more than one hectare of land at the St. Gregory the Great Church was planned for planting corn feed.
He also handed over horticultural seeds and fruit to recipient representatives to encourage the use of the yard.
Chairman of the HPS 2026 Committee at the Jambi Deanery Level, Tanto, reported that around 110 participants from eight parishes took part in the activity. He emphasized the need to reduce the habit of throwing away food and increase concern for families who have difficulty meeting nutritional needs.
Through waste banks and land use plans, houses of worship are expected to become places for learning as well as carrying out environmental action. One year of implementation and evaluation will be an opportunity to see how far the plan has been implemented.
