Barito Kuala Monitors Air and Barito River, Data Becomes Policy Basis
Two Barito River Monitoring Devices
Apart from air quality, DLH Barito Kuala monitors the water condition of the Barito River through two Onlimo units. The equipment belonging to the district government is located in the Patih Muhur Village area and Ulu Benteng Subdistrict, Marabahan District.
"For water quality monitoring tools or online water quality monitoring systems, there are two tools available in Barito Kuala Regency," explained Abdi.
Onlimo is used to monitor water quality as well as observe potential pollution. Parameters monitored include acidity or pH levels, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and dissolved oxygen (DO).
Monitoring also includes total suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TDS), nitrate, and salinity or salt content.
Utilization of these two systems provides data on environmental conditions quickly. This information is the basis for local governments in monitoring and managing air and water quality in Barito Kuala Regency.
