Ambon Launches QRIS to Pay Waste Levy, 810 Officers Receive Equipment
AMBON, GARISBUMI.com – Ambon City residents now have the option of paying levies for waste and household cleaning services through QRIS. The Ambon City Government launched this non-cash payment system to facilitate services while strengthening regional revenue governance.
The launch was carried out at the Ambon City Government morning assembly led by Deputy Mayor of Ambon Ely Toisutta, Tuesday (6/10/2026).
Before being launched, waste levy payments via QRIS had been trialled in Waihaong Village since October 1 2026. The implementation involved collaboration between the Ambon City Government and the Ambon Branch of the State Savings Bank (BTN).
Ely appreciated the steps taken by the Environment and Waste Service (DLHP). He hopes that its application can be expanded so that more people take advantage of digital payment services.
"By paying retributions via QRIS, DLHP has made a very good breakthrough. Hopefully starting today it can take place in all Ambon City communities," he said.
Work Equipment for 810 Cleaners
In the same activity, the Ambon City Government handed over work equipment to 810 cleaning officers. The equipment consists of a broom, vest, coat, shovel and rake.
The city government also awarded Hamdi Tuankotta for his dedication to maintaining the cleanliness of the environment, especially in the Ahuru area.
The handover of equipment and awards complements the launch of waste levy payments through QRIS as part of improving cleaning services in Ambon City.
Strengthen Regional Asset Legal Certainty
Apart from solid waste services, this rally was on the agenda for handing over social facility certificates at the Bukit Lateri Indah Housing Complex from PT Modern Multi Guna (MMG).
Facilities included include fields, posts and bus stops, mosques, green open spaces, churches and security posts.
The Ambon City Government also handed over land asset certificates on nine roads, namely Jalan Kapitan Ulupaha, Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Jalan Wem Rewaru, Jalan Kakiali II, Jalan Tulukabesy II, Jalan Tulukabesy I, Jalan Kakiali, Jalan Imam Bonjol, and Jalan Setiabudi.
Ely emphasized that certification is a step to strengthen the security of regional assets administratively, physically and legally. This effort also supports the asset management intervention area in the KPK Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP).
He asked all regional asset management officials to ensure that recording and administration were carried out in an orderly manner. Certificate documents must also be documented and integrated in the regional goods information system, while the physical condition of the assets is maintained.
"Continue to improve synergy with BPN and don't slack off in completing the targets for certification of roads, public facilities, social facilities and other City Government assets which are still in process," he said.
Ely hopes that the implementation of QRIS and strengthening asset legality can improve the quality of government governance and provide benefits to the people of Ambon.
