50 Meter Mural at Tank Invites Residents to Sort Waste from Source
JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – The 50 meter long wall on Jalan Mangga Besar IX, Tangki Village, Taman Sari District, West Jakarta, is being used as an educational medium for waste sorting. The message of cleanliness in public spaces is combined with planting plants and placing rubbish bins.
Tangki Village Infrastructure and Public Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers completed making the mural on the three meter high wall, Monday (26/10/2026).
According to information from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the regional planning carries the concept of waste sorting to support the implementation of DKI Jakarta Governor's Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning waste sorting and processing from the source.
It is hoped that the murals on residents' activity routes will become a daily reminder so that concern for cleanliness grows into a habit of sorting waste. The placement of trash cans is part of the arrangement to support the educational message.
However, the information provided does not yet detail the categories of waste bins or the mechanism for transporting segregated waste from the area. The impact of murals on changes in residents' behavior has also not been reported.
