West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah conveyed the policy of sorting waste from home during the Forkopimko Greeting Residents activity in the Kalideres District Office Hall, Friday (2/10/2026). South Meruya TPS 3R will only accept segregated waste from October 1 2026

JAKARTA, GARISBUMI.com – Meruya Selatan Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS 3R) Waste Processing Site, Kembangan District, West Jakarta, has only accepted waste that has been sorted since October 1 2026. Cart attendants have also been asked not to transport residents' trash that is still mixed.

This policy was conveyed by the Mayor of West Jakarta, Iin Mutmainnah, during the Forkopimko activity of Greeting Residents in the Kalideres District Office Hall, Friday (2/10/2026).

"The upstream is a residential area, the waste has already been sorted. Cart officers are not allowed to transport it if it is not sorted to the residents. TMT October 1, I decided not to accept gabruk or mixed waste," stressed Iin.

South Meruya TPS 3R was prepared as a waste management pilot in West Jakarta. Iin hopes that the implementation of house sorting in this area can be an example for other areas.

According to him, citizen involvement is an important part in reducing waste at its source. He appreciated the community for carrying out these efforts.

The West Jakarta City Government has also launched activities with the City Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimko) on July 19 to clean up mud sediment in rivers and connecting channels, while encouraging waste reduction from the source.

Flooding for Days is a Concern

Apart from waste, Iin places flood and inundation mitigation and fire prevention as priorities for the West Jakarta City Government.

He said that a number of areas had experienced flooding since early 2025. In some locations, the inundation took days to recede.

"If you pass for a while it's safe, but it takes a long time, up to days. Kalideres is one of the locations where there are several points, although not as extreme as in Cengkareng," he said.

The RW 02 and RW 06 settlements in Kamal Village are one of the areas receiving attention. According to Iin, the conditions in this area are related to the intersection of streams from other areas and the construction of toll roads which are higher than the surrounding areas.

Iin and related staff have checked the location to find a solution. Handling carried out includes dredging with the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-Department.

"Hopefully, we will dredge it every week, maybe even more than 1-2-3 times a week, which we do together with the SDA Department. The community's proposal is in the form of a reservoir, then an embung, which is currently being processed. We have communicated with the Parks and City Forest Service," he explained.

Invite Residents to Prevent Fires

In efforts to prevent fires, Iin highlighted electrical short circuits and burning piles of rubbish as causes that need to be watched out for.

He invited various elements of society, including the Community Early Awareness Forum (FKDM), to be involved in prevention so that potential dangers can be recognized early.

"I invite FKDM to become volunteers to prevent fires, so that there is mitigation from the start," said Iin.

This activity was attended by elements of the police, TNI, prosecutor's office, regional officials, City Council, community leaders, and RW administrators in Kalideres District.
