Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen conveyed an invitation to maintain cleanliness and sort and recycle waste at the Roudlotul Mubtadiin Islamic Boarding School, Pemalang Regency, Tuesday (20/10/2026)

PEMALANG, GARISBUMI.com – A total of 117 Islamic boarding schools in Central Java are taking part in the environmental clean-up movement ahead of Santri Day 2026. Through this activity, students and Islamic boarding school managers are also encouraged to get used to sorting and recycling waste.

The Resik-resik movement was initiated by the Central Java Provincial Government together with the Central Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion to strengthen environmental awareness in Islamic boarding schools.

Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen conveyed this invitation while at the Roudlotul Mubtadiin Islamic Boarding School, Islamic Boarding School Village, Ulu Jami District, Pemalang Regency, Tuesday (20/10/2026).

"Today we have a good practice, if there is any trash activity, don't throw it away (carelessly). Bag the trash, if you find a trash can then throw it away," he said.

According to Taj Yasin, the culture of loving the environment is one form of contribution of santri in strengthening national character. This concern can start from daily actions, including maintaining cleanliness and not littering.

Strengthen the Ro'an Tradition in Islamic Boarding Schools

Taj Yasin, who is familiarly called Gus Yasin, said that Islamic boarding schools have a tradition of Ro'an or activities to clean the environment together. This tradition, which is routinely carried out every week, is the capital for building the habit of maintaining cleanliness.

He also encouraged students and Islamic boarding school managers to sort and recycle waste. Thus, concern for the environment can be implemented through daily waste management.
